Dean for Governor 2008

Does anyone really believe that Gov. Dean will remain as the head of the DNC more than about 5 seconds after a Hillary or Obama nomination?  I believe that Edwards is the only candidate that could work effectively with Howard.  With that in mind, take the poll.

Poll
What is Howard Dean going to be doing in 2008?
Running for Governor in Vermont
Running the DNC cause JRE wins
Something else but not the DNC

What makes you think he would stay with Edwards? Four years as head of the DNC is a pretty long time. I think he very well may retire after that. Maybe he will get a cabinet job if he is lucky.

I believe the incoming President normally selects a new DNC Chair.

Also, I personally have no idea, but I've heard more than one insider claim that the rumors of a rift between Dean and the Clintons are entirely fictional.

I wouldn't be surprised. I'm used to people making up things about the Clinton's.

Re: Dean for Governor 2008 (2.00 / 1)

There is a campaign within the party to select the DNC chair, unlike the less-democratic Repugnants.  And he would win again.

I think he'll stay - he wants to make an imprint and his 50-state strategy isn't yet in place enough to endure without his backing.  His mark on the party and history, beyond online fundraising, will be the way he shifted the Democratic party to a national party, and he needs more time for this to take hold.

Dean and Obama (2.00 / 1)

I'm not sure where you get the idea that Obama doesn't like Dean.  Obama was one of the first "Dean Dozen" that was endorsed by Dean's Democracy for America after his primary campaign ended.

Re: Dean and Obama (none / 0)

Since IL is the only state that will not allow Dean to organize I think the it is the other way around. Obama will not like Dean's grassroot activism.

Re: Dean for Governor 2008 (none / 0)

what makes you think howard dean dislikes obama? my goodness. during the recent DNC convention,  dean's opening remarks were very complimentary towards obama. to the point that i started to worry dean might receive unwarranted attacks alleging bias.

Dean for US Senator 2010 (none / 0)

2010- Vermont's Senior Senator Pat Leahy decides to retire from the US Senate. Dean becomes a shoe in to suceed him.
